Budecort Inhaler is a maintenance medicine used to treat asthma and chronic respiratory diseases such as COPD. It contains budesonide, a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the airways, making breathing easier with time. Budecort, unlike quick-relief inhalers, is not used to treat acute asthma episodes, but rather to avoid symptoms like wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath. It works by reducing the underlying inflammation, which lowers the frequency and severity of asthma attacks. The results may take a few days to become apparent, therefore persistent daily use is recommended. Common adverse effects include throat discomfort, coughing, and hoarseness, which can usually be alleviated by washing the mouth after inhalation.
